Young people worried at parties; parties continue
The BBC reports that people in their early twenties feel observed in nightclubs. The observation equipment has been upgraded since previous generations — phones, promoter cameras, spectacles of ambiguous capability — and so, accordingly, has the worrying.
For historical context, filed without comment: the young have received a warning about their nightlife from their elders every generation since nightlife began. Jazz would ruin them, then television, then disco, then ecstasy, then Facebook, and now the fear of appearing 'plastered' on a club's Instagram page. Each generation was ruined on schedule and grew up anyway, mostly into people who warn the next generation.
A neuroscientist was consulted and confirmed that people behave differently when watched, a finding also available from any cat.
Berlin has responded with stickers, students have responded with vigilance, and the dance floors have responded by remaining full every weekend, nationwide, without exception. You will never think about this again, though a promoter may briefly film you not thinking about it. Weather continues. So does the bassline.
