The government has announced a plan to grow the poultry sector, and campaign groups have warned the plan is a risk. This completes the standard lifecycle of a plan, which is: plan, warning, consultation, amendment, quiet shelving, new plan.

The details, for completists: the environment secretary would like more homegrown food and fewer planning constraints on chicken farms. Campaigners note the chickens eat imported soy — 18% of feed — and suggest beans instead.
